The Lair

Upon entering, the first vision is of a dim vastness that stretches deep into the mountain. The only decent light source is from a large hearth directly to the right. As ones eyes adjust to the low light, various tables ranging from greggil(humanoid) sized to ones that stand 10 ft off the floor are spread out by the hearth. A scattering of chairs, a gigantic couch, and a huge pile of pillows can be made out there as well.
An unusually large Bar that is well equipped with most anything one could request sprawls out by the far right wall. Nearby is a tall shelf crammed with scrolls and a matching desk, littered with writing tools and new parchment. Straight ahead a soft red glow can be seen coming from the pond of lava that flows slowly, fed by an underground vein. Dim torches burn here and there along the walls, decorating the open doorways to other chambers and a handful of torch stands are placed around the tables.
The chamber is quite warm, about 100F, with high humidity. It stretches back beyond the light from the various sources and the walls seem impossibly high by the sensation one feels of limitless darkness above. A living wall of steam curls slowly up the wall directly to the left of the main entrance, the floor having been cracked open at sometime in the past to allow the steam to escape the bowels of the mountain.
A faint dripping can be heard, softly echoing around the high walls and ledges, and the occasional scraping of claws on rock from somewhere in the darkness above. Then a slow, deep sniffing reaches your ears.. something big, coming from the dark shadows straight ahead.
